Mike Coughlin Appointed to Pharmacy Education Advisory Council

Mission, KANSAS—The bridge between pharmacy education and pharmacy professions has been reinforced this year with the first meeting of the Pharmacy Education Advisory Council (PEAC). PEAC was established to enhance professional health education and to guide the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) in its mission. Michael E. Coughlin, President and CEO of ScriptPro, will join the prestigious group of pharmaceutical, medical and public health leaders as a member of the PEAC.

Lucinda Maine, AACP Executive Vice President, explained the goals for PEAC this way, “We hope to build upon the dialogue that was started at the first meeting by welcoming representatives from other health areas that share our interest in improving the quality of health education and patient care services, and addressing the future challenges that students from multiple health disciplines will face in treating patients.”

The AACP is a national organization representing and supporting all U.S. colleges and schools of pharmacy and their faculties and is committed to education and scholarship for improving drug therapy. PEAC is comprised of deans and executives of colleges and schools of various health disciplines, pharmaceutical executives, health technology executives, industry quality assurance experts and public health professionals.

Mr. Coughlin is looking forward to serving with the other 10 members of PEAC and participating in meaningful dialog about advancing the education of health care providers, specifically those in the pharmacy industry. Since prescription dispensing technology plays a vital role in allowing pharmacists more time for patient care, advising about drug therapies and practicing pharmacy at a higher level, Mr. Coughlin’s experience with the industry’s leading pharmacy automation company will provide valuable insight for the group.
